Living Life Well includes the benefit called "life-care"

...which provides you the "continuum of care."

What is life-care? It's the term we use to describe the benefit you'll receive when you pay your entrance fee and become an independent living resident at St. James Place. It's our promise that if your health changes, and you can no longer live independently, that you can avail yourself of our "continuum of care," and that we will care for you in our assisted living area, or in our nursing care area. When you have the life-care benefit, you have a 'plan in place" and you'll have the security of knowing you will not have to leave St. James Place to receive that care, nor will you become a burden to your family.

Our complete continuum of care includes Assisted Living, Highland Court Assisted (memory care for residents with moderate dementia), long-term nursing care and Highland Court Enhanced (memory care for residents with advanced dementia). All health services are provided on-site, therefore friends and spouses remain close by for support and companionship.

The Fees:

In order to fully understand the life-care benefit and the continuum of care, one must take note of the two fees involved. The first is an entrance fee, which is due shortly before you move into your residence at St. James Place. When you pay the entrance fee you are paying (in advance) for the long-term health care that you may one day need. The other fee is the monthly fee, which is paid each month that you live at St. James Place. If you make the transition from independent living to one of the other areas, your monthly fee will remain as it was in independent living, with the only increase being that of the cost of the two extra meals you'll receive each day. (The independent living monthly fee pays for only one meal.) In this way, you have the peace of mind of being able to predict the cost of your long-term care and know that it will not be significantly higher than the monthly fee you have become accustomed to paying in independent living.

Please note that direct admissions from the Baton Rouge community to Assisted Living and Nursing Care are available, as well as to our Medicare-certified skilled nursing area. With direct admissions, one may enjoy the benefits of our Health Service Programs through a monthly financial arrangement, and there is no entrance fee required.

Please note that although the health-care services are available to the general public, priority access is given to life-care residents.
