Memory Care at St. James Place
Life can be a struggle for a person with cognitive impairments. That’s why we’re dedicated to reducing those struggles and helping our memory-impaired residents continue to live their lives well—by providing the supportive services and care they need--in Highland Court. Highland court consists of two distinct, adjacent parts of our community.
Highland Court Assisted is part of St. James Place Assisted Living. It’s for residents with moderate memory impairment such that they need to live in a secure neighborhood, with lots of supervision. Residents enjoy a large studio apartment, with a private bath (including shower) and a kitchenette. Staff members are on hand 24 hours a day and are specially trained to work
with residents with cognitive difficulties. Highland Court Assisted residents enjoy their own dining room, living room, and a beautiful secure outdoor courtyard. Activities are plentiful, some of them exclusively for Highland Court Assisted residents, others are for all residents of Assisted Living. This area is staffed by personal care assistants and supervised by the Director of Assisted Living.
Highland Court Enhanced is a part of our Nursing Care center. This self-contained area is beautifully appointed and secure, and is home to residents with advanced dementia and other cognitive difficulties. Many of the residents here require nursing care, as well as help with activities of daily living. All 26 rooms are roomy and private, with private baths. The staff – both nurses and certified nursing assistants – is trained to provide the specialized care and support needed by these very special residents. Residents enjoy a beautiful, secure, outdoor courtyard. Appropriate activities are planned, to allow the residents to be engaged and as active as is possible.
Please note that these services are also available to “direct admissions,” i.e. people who have not paid the entrance fee and been part of the St. James Place life-care community. See the information at the Nursing Care tab.
