Geaux Tigers! St. James Place hosted a Tiger Tailgate Party to cheer the LSU Tigers to victory!

LIVING LIFE WELL MEANS PARTYING WELL! Every holiday is cause for a celebration but our parties are certainly not limited to holidays only. We enjoy outdoor parties such as crawfish boils and pig roasts- we have our own Mardi Gras parade followed by a big party with dancing to live music, and the best Mardi Gras fare. Whether it's Cajun music, big band sounds, or rock 'n roll, our portable wooden dance floor provides a fine venue for dancing --both indoors and outdoors.

And St. James Place is not the only host of parties -- as a resident you may choose to entertain here for your own private parties, either in your own home or in one of our many common areas. Our dining services include a catering staff that can ensure your private parties are exquisite affairs. Residents have entertained here for their weddings, wedding anniversaries, birthdays, and in some cases, a "Celebration of My Anniversary of Moving to St. James Place"!

LIVING LIFE WELL MEANS LEARNING WELL. St. James Place is an official chapter of the highly esteemed Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of LSU. We also offer the "Knowledge and Discovery" series, our in-house "learning-in-retirement" program. Residents serve as both teachers and students, and share their expertise in a wide array of topics. Past programs have included classes on computer skills, exploring the Bible, “An Evening with the Experts”, and wine tasting.

LIVING LIFE WELL MEANS PLAYING WELL. Residents gather for various activities such as bridge, poker, billiards, ping pong, shuffleboard, putting green, arts and crafts, woodworking, and movie night in the Theater Room. Participation in the Senior Olympics is a favorite activity as is the ever popular line dancing, bi-weekly Happy Hour and the daily coffee in the wireless Café. Our newest addition is our stylish pool enclosure making swimming and pool parties a year round affair.

LIVING LIFE WELL MEANS BEING ROYALLY ENTERTAINED. Our Duplantier auditorium is the setting for many cultural and entertainment programs such as concerts by the Louisiana SinfoniettaBaton Rouge Ballet Theater, Louisiana State University student recitals, as well as demonstrations and performances by local artists and residents. You won’t have to bother with parking when you use our transportation to the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Opera Louisiane, and favorite theaters and performance venues.

LIVING LIFE WELL MEANS SPIRITUAL GROWTH. St. James Place is a faith-based community, sponsored by St. James Episcopal Church, and open to all. We are one of the few CCRCs to offer a Director of Pastoral Care for our residents. Our Director of Pastoral Care is available for pastoral counseling and support for life transitions. Our non-denominational chapel with its exquisite stained glass windows is an oasis of serenity, and is available for individual mediation as well as for church services of all denominations. Residents enjoy our transportation to near-by churches and synagogues for services, and can also attend the Episcopal and Catholic Church services held here on our campus.
