Giving to the Foundation
The St. James Place Foundation, a separate 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was created in 1995 to complement and enhance life at St. James Place. It does so by raising funds to help support St. James Place in many ways, including the following two: it makes financial contributions to residents who become unable to fully pay their monthly fees and it provides funds for extraordinary projects that fall outside of the regular budget. You can donate in several ways: make small monthly gifts, send a donation in honor of or in memory of someone, or make a one-time gift. The Foundation has established five funds which can be designated as an endowment or for use at any time at the discretion of the board.
- Residency Endowment Fund: helps support residents who develop a need for financial aid remain in the community.
- Campus Enhancement Fund: makes possible campus improvements outside the normal budget process
- St. James Place Activities Fund: expands special activities outside the normal budget process
- St. James Place Fund: undesignated funds provide support where the need is greatest at the discretion of the Board
- Chapel and Spiritual Life Fund: supports and enhances spiritual life
Why give to the St. James Place Foundation?
The cornerstone of the St. James Place Foundation is the Residency Fund. Many seniors today are enjoying much longer life spans than they expected. But for a few, a longer life can result in outliving financial resources. The St. James Place Foundation can help by providing financial aid to residents in need, so they can continue to live at St. James Place. "Neighbors helping neighbors" defines our Residency Fund. Additionally, these residents retain their dignity and privacy since assistance is given with complete confidentiality.

The St. James Place Foundation supports St. James Place in its quest to position itself as a one of the top retirement communities in the country. The ongoing introduction of cutting- edge programs enhances the lives of residents, maximizes their independence, and sustains physical, mental, and cognitive health as long as possible. The Foundation, through the extraordinary generosity of its donors, can offset or carry the cost of these special programs and campus improvements that would not be possible through the normal budgeting process.
